Francisco Center for the Performing Arts is excited to present our 50th Anniversary Summer Musical Come From Away! This award-winning Broadway sensation tells the true story of a small Newfoundland town that hosted 7,000 stranded airline passengers for five days immediately following the tragic events of 9/11. Beginning T’AI CHI Classes at La Veta School of the Arts
Often referred to as “the gentle art of yielding,” the ancient, slow moving Chinese practice of T’ai Chi Chuan is also healing in many ways. New beginning classes will be held beginning Saturday, June 6th, 9am at The La Veta School of the Arts – 105 W Ryus – across from the town park. The Book Nook At The La Veta Library
Located at 207 s Main Street the Book Nook, a second-hand bookstore, is an ongoing fundraising vehicle for Friends of La Veta Library (FLVL) and is run completely by volunteers. All proceeds to go the Award Winning La Veta Public Library. Come browse the wonderful selection of books which have been donated by the Library and patrons who live in the surrounding area. You can also support our local Library by becoming a member of FLVL. Membership forms are available at the Book Nook. If you are interested in joining the Book Nook Volunteer staff, please leave your name and contact information at the Library.

Healing Through Arts Program with the Green Thumb Initiative
Beginning Wednesday, November 19th and every Wednesday following at 2:30PM-4PM we will be offering Qi Gong with Roger Bachelor’s recorded program followed by a half hour meditation/visualization with Maria Cocchiarelli. The purpose of the Healing through Arts program at MoF is to build community help with coping methods and share positive mind, body, and spirit practices.

W.A.A.G. (Wahatoya Animal Advocacy Group)
We would like to thank the community for their generosity during this month’s Pet Food Drive! As a result of realized need, W.A.A.G. is going to continue the pet food drive for the coming months. Any unopened canned or bagged dog or cat food can be dropped off at Crafted in Colorado, located at 205 S. Main, on Fridays and Saturdays between 11am and 4pm. Cash donations will also be accepted at the same location. Thank you for supporting W.A.A.G. and the La Veta Community! Our goal is to help pets stay in their homes!

The Wheelhouse Incubator and Makerspace is thrilled to announce the launch of its Hands-On at the Wheelhouse series! This immersive event line-up offers a unique shopping experience featuring live demonstrations by local artisans, fostering community connection through hands-on creative learning. Each event will allow attendees to engage directly with makers, explore new crafts, and pick up unique skills, all while supporting local businesses. These events are held at the Wheelhouse 609 Main Street in Walsenburg, are free, and open to all ages.
