Cuchara
Sitting at just over 8,400 feet, Cuchara is a welcoming mountain town tucked away on the Scenic Highway of Legends south of La Veta. Following the Cucharas River south 11 miles you will see perfectly placed dike walls, wildlife such as elk, deer, and bighorn sheep. Once you make the beautiful mountain drive you will come across main street in Cuchara, there you will find many shops, a mini golf course, and restaurants. A short drive from there you can enjoy hiking trails at San Isabel National Forest, camping at Bear and Blue Lakes, and picturesque views at the top of Cordova Pass.
