Annalee was born and raised in the Cuchara Valley. Growing up working for her grandparents, founders of the Dog Bar and Cuchara County Store in Cuchara, instilled a love of people, customer service and work ethic. After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder, Annalee came home and went to work as a program director for Huerfano County Youth Services and Medical Social Worker for Sangre De Cristo Hospice. She and her high school sweetheart, Russell Hickey got married and spent their 20’s having fun in the mountains of Southern Colorado.

Annalee had a long history of friendship with Eric Bachman, founder of Bachman & Associates. Eric had encouraged her from the day she left for college to get her real estate license. He persisted and after 10 years both Annalee and Russell decided they were ready to take the challenge and start their careers in Real Estate. They are now going into their 9th year as the proud owners of Bachman & Associates and work diligently everyday to honor what Eric created almost 35 years ago.

Entering into her thirteenth year as a Broker, Real Estate has been the perfect fit to combine the customer service skills acquired throughout her lifetime and her love of the Cuchara Valley. In 2021, Annalee was recognized as the Spanish Peaks Broker of the Year. She currently serves as President of the La Veta School Board and is a founding member and President of the La Veta School Foundation. Annalee is also a Member of the Cuchara Foundation and owner of the Cuchara Yacht Club in Cuchara.

Annalee and Russell have two children, 13-year-old Lillian and 7-year-old Johnny, who share their parents’ passion for the mountains of Southern Colorado. Together, the family spends countless hours exploring the backcountry, traveling, hosting friends and family and making memories in their beloved Cuchara Cabin. The family has a deep appreciation for the natural beauty and community spirit that makes our valley so special.

Annalee balances her professional achievements with creating a nurturing home environment and actively participating in her children’s lives. Her partnership with Russell has grown stronger through the years as they’ve built both their family and business together, complementing each other’s strengths and sharing a deep love for the community they serve.
